Piazza di Spagna

The city shines with friendships and dreams, intertwined like silk threads in the morning light.

Piazza di Spagna

I arrived in Rome in spring, the time when the "Trinità dei Monti" staircase is adorned with azaleas. My friends were waiting for me on Via Margutta. Upon reaching Largo Goldoni, I turned onto Via dei Condotti towards Piazza di Spagna, and having passed "Bulgari" on the right and the "Caffè Greco" on the left, I had the vision: a silk carpet in shades of purple stretched across the staircase.

The intense color gradient made the ivory white of the "Barcaccia" fountain, the magnificent work of Pietro and Gian Lorenzo Bernini from 1629, appear opulent and imperial. An unforgettable memory. Thus began my journey to discover the city of water and fountains, around two hundred and fifty of them, supplied by eleven aqueducts—the secret faces of Rome.
